Marriage & Money Planning 4 Forever After
Script: Friends at Diner
Scene In A Restaurant: 3 girlfriends sitting at a table…
Friend #1: sets her coffee down shaking her head in slight disbelief… I can’t believe you’re getting married this year! Aren’t you excited?! Have you arranged your wedding dress yet?! Can I come with you?! So many questions… So I have to ask: I was on your wedding registry website…. and noticed a marriage and money Workshop…….(look of concern and lowering tone) Are you having money problems?
Engaged Friend: Actually we’re doing well and but with each of coming in with a house, our own 401k, my business, my student debt…this workshop can be one of the ways we both get on the same page… with our cash flow, balance sheet, retirement goals, and other financial stuff that can be difficult to talk about. We’ve not yet decided where we’ll get the wedding dress from. We had spent ages looking through sites and going to boutiques, and are still taking the time to find the best dresses, as we’re currently budgeting for our big day!
Background flashes though different scenes. One includes a bridal website stating (» view page), and lingers before fading back to scene.
Friend #1: I thought Eric had an investment guy, his buddy from college?
Engaged Friend: Oh Brian sells insurance. This is a workshop. Not a seminar trying to sell us stuff. Zero sales pitch. Just professionals like financial planners and estate planning attorney’s with credentials giving us their professional opinion. Like a Propinion.
Turns to Friend #2: Alicia, you’re married. What do YOU think?
Friend #2: Are you kidding me? I would pay twice the amount to avoid a tenth of the arguments we have around money. And you really don’t know, what you don’t know. Plus, a money-back guarantee? Shrugs like…..no brainer.
Friend #1: Final question… like a whisper… do you have to be engaged or married to go to this Workshop?
Engaged Friend: whispers back… Let’s focus on you finding a man!
Everybody laughs

Marriage & Money Planning 4 Forever After
Script: Couple w/ Wedding Planner
Scene at Coffee Shop: The wedding planner is checking off items on her To-Do-List…
Wedding Planner: “Let’s review our wedding to-do-list shall we? flowers for wedding party (check), cake colors (check), valet parking (check)
Male Partner: Nodding as…
Female Partner: Reads off her sheet…
Wedding Planner: Putting her list down… “Now remember how I promised our wedding planning service really one of a kind? While other wedding planners are done at the end of your reception….we go the extra step. Here’s our special Checklist for the days AFTER your special day”
Wedding Planner: Hands them a sheet…
Male Partner: “That’s cool”
Female Partner: Reading the sheet… “Thank you cards, nodding in approval… adding name to car insurance nodding… then looking perplexed… And joint financial plan?
Female Partner: What?
Male Partner: Huh?
Wedding Planner: “Look I’ve been doing this for a while… money is the #1 cause for disagreement among couples but it doesn’t have to be… have a joint financial plan. So everyone is on the same page when it comes to financial goals.”
Female Partner: Nervous laugh… “but we have good jobs, and each have a 401k”
Wedding Planner: Which is exactly why you need a financial plan along with stuff you don’t have which is life insurance, tax planning, and overview of legal stuff around our state laws for couples. These days, working professionals always have a lot more than 30-40 years ago.”
Male Partner: “Sounds important.”
Female Partner: “Sound complicated, I mean… we don’t even know where to start…”
Wedding Planner: “Well, it can start with both of you attending the Marriage and Money: Planning 4 Forever After Workshop. It’s led by professionals in the field giving you the stuff they never tell you before marriage but critical to…”
Male Partner: Cuts her off… “I think I heard about this. It’s a financial guy, attorney and they just lay it out there without the investment/insurance pitch.”
Female Partner: “Just advice?”
Wedding Planner: “Just advice”
Male Partner: “You really do go above and beyond…”
